Some people fall into real estate. Crystal Sheehan has been working toward it since she was eight years old.
Growing up in Florida, Crystal watched her dad and grandfather build what became the largest replacement window company in northeast Florida. Her grandfather had also built homes throughout the 1950s, so craftsmanship and attention to detail were simply part of the family's DNA. As a little girl, she would ride through neighborhoods with her dad, writing down the addresses of homes that could benefit from his work. She even painted screws to match trim and finishes so that no detail, however small, would be out of place. She was already learning how to see a home the way a true professional does.
When Crystal was 15, her family returned to their Virginia roots, a state the Baer-Burke family has called home for many generations. They built a home on a 300-acre farm in Orlean, where her parents still raise Angus beef today. In high school, the family ran a boarding barn with a resident trainer from Germany, importing and working with young horses. Crystal learned what hard work truly looks like. That upbringing gave her a foundation of discipline and pride in craftsmanship that shapes everything she does today.
Her path to real estate included a meaningful detour that made her a far better agent. Crystal graduated from Virginia Tech with dual degrees in Business Finance and Applied Economics, then spent years working at high-net-worth, fee-only financial planning firms before earning her license. That background means she is as comfortable analyzing a market investment as she is negotiating a contract. She thinks of herself as a financial advisor; it just happens that she is advising on what is, for most people, both their most personal and most significant financial asset: the home they live in.
Crystal has spent over a decade helping buyers and sellers navigate one of Northern Virginia's most sought-after markets. She is currently ranked #1 in individual production volume at Keller Williams Realty McLean, the #1 Keller Williams office in the region by volume. With an average sale price of $1.6 million and a track record that includes sales exceeding $6 million, she brings serious market depth to every transaction.
Her work has been recognized by some of the region's most respected names:
Northern Virginia Association of REALTORS® Platinum Producer
Crystal has a particular passion for working with move-up buyers, helping them slow down and truly see the details that create lasting value in a home. It is, after all, exactly what her dad taught her to notice long before she ever had a real estate license.
Her clients describe her as meticulous, deeply knowledgeable, and available at all hours. She is the kind of agent who will tell you about homes before they hit the market, prepare you for every next step, and negotiate a genuinely win-win outcome. Fellow agents know her as someone who sees beyond what is simply in front of them, helping clients recognize opportunity, envision possibility, and find creative paths to getting the right deal done.
Some transactions stay with you forever. One of Crystal's most meaningful was helping a gentleman in his nineties sell the family home he had lived in for 53 years. His wife was in memory care, and his daughter was overseas. For more than six months before he ever listed, Crystal simply met with him, talked through every possibility, and took things at his pace. When his daughter flew in for closing and expressed how much it meant to her that her father had been so carefully looked after, Crystal was reminded of exactly why she does this work. Real estate, at its best, is about people.
Crystal moved to McLean 14 years ago and has poured herself into the community ever since, spending countless hours with her children on the local playgrounds, getting to know neighbors, and most recently serving as President of MOMS of McLean. She chose this community for its proximity to Washington, DC, but it has become so much more than a convenient address. It is where her children are growing up, where friendships have been built, and where she is proud to put down roots. And when the family needs to reconnect with something quieter, the farm in Orlean is just down the road, keeping them grounded in the Virginia Crystal fell in love with as a teenager.
Whether you are buying your first home in McLean or selling an estate-caliber property, Crystal brings deep financial expertise, a contractor's eye for detail, and a genuine personal commitment to making it the best experience possible. She is not looking to simply close a deal and move on. She is looking to earn your trust for life.
